The ACLU has filed a lawsuit over a new North Carolina law that requires people to use a restroom matching the gender of their birth. Gov. Pat McCrory signed the bill that was passed by the state legislature last week. More specifically, the law prevents local governments from passing laws that give preferential treatment to transgender people and allow them to use a restroom other than the gender with with they were born.
In a press release, the ACLU says it filed Carcano v. McCrory along with the ACLU of North Carolina, Lambda Legal, and Equality North Carolina.
(Editor’s note: The ACLU says the new law is discriminatory. However, God created each one of us and has a plan for our lives. It is not up to mankind to play the role of God and change what He created. Sexual preference for a person of the opposite gender is just that, a preference, a decision. Same thing with someone who chooses to “change” their gender. Psalm 139:14: “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.” (KJV) I have compassion for the hurt that LGBT people have experienced in their lives. No one deserves to be discriminated against or bullied. But standing up for God’s law and stating that He is sovereign is not hate. It would be far more hateful to stay silent and not share the gospel. God has a plan for every single person, and if we seek His will with an open and humble heart, He will share that plan with us.)
