Tennessee marriage defeat part of early struggle vs. U.S. courts

Chattanooga-area state representative Mike Carter, an attorney and former Hamilton County sessions judge, joined in voting against marriage Jan. 20 in a Nashville state subcommittee, David Tulis reports.

Says Cal Zastrow, a backer of the biblical doctrine of the lesser magistrate who attended the hearing: “He clearly acts in support of the rule by courts, not by law. His position condemns American independence as anarchy and rebellion. It also condemns obedience to God, whenever tyrannical courts order it so. Just before voting to uphold perversion, he even said, ‘God doesn’t have to tell me how to vote on this. I know how to.’ ”

Nonetheless, the effort to get states to obey their own constitutional mandates is spreading. — DJT
