A New York City man is suing the Metropolitan Museum of Art, claiming that any paintings that depict Jesus as white should be taken down, Fox News reports.
Justin Renel Joseph has filed a lawsuit in the Manhattan Supreme Court alleging that the Civil Rights Act of 1964 demands that four paintings be removed, according to reports.
Met spokeswoman Elyse Topalian told The New York Post, “When they were painted, it was typical for artists to depict subjects with the same identity as the local audience. This phenomenon occurs in many other cultures, as well.”
