Jackson, TN church honors police

JACKSON, Tenn. — The Jackson Police Department had a group of unexpected visitors, Monday, WBBJ reports.

They came bearing gifts and a warm thank you. Bearing a banner made by children, a group from Englewood Baptist Church visited the downtown police department.

Members said in light of recent violence against officers nationwide, they wanted to show their support for the men and women who protect them every day.

“There are a lot of people who need to speak up, who need to let them know we support them, we stand with them,” said Bronson Stewart with Englewood. “We need to let them know we’re love them and we’re praying for their safety as they sacrifice to keep our community safe.”

The group also gave the department 225 McDonald’s gift cards worth $10 each. That is enough for each officer to have one.
