A Nashville Baptist bishop was sent to an area hospital after he and his wife were attacked on their way home from church late Monday, News Channel 5 reports.
Officials with Metro Nashville Police Department said Bishop Alonzo Hatchett was shot in the leg during the ordeal. His wife was punched in the face during the altercation.
Hatchett is the bishop at Foster Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Nashville and is in training to be a Metro Police Chaplain.
Hatchett was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he was said to be in stable condition.
