Pro-life groups are denouncing abortion clinics for engaging in the sale of body parts of aborted fetuses.
They are reacting to a video and transcript produced by Center for Medical Progress. Two unidentified adults, posing as fetal tissue buyers, met with an executive with Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) and secretly videotaped their conversation.
Dr. Deborah Nucatola, a Los Angeles OB-GYN and senior director of medical services for PPFA, spoke freely about the practice of gaining a woman’s consent to let the tissue of her aborted fetus be used. She speculated that fetal parts may cost from $30 to $100 apiece and that abortionists can become adept at not damaging valuable organs such as hearts, lungs and livers.
The group also discussed how “times are hard” in Texas now, since many abortion clinics have been closed under a new law, the Washington Times reports.
The 60-page transcript and video is at the website of the Center for Medical Progress, a nonprofit group that describes itself as “citizen journalists dedicated to monitoring and reporting on medical ethics and advances.”
The sale or purchase of a human fetal tissue is a federal felony, the center noted in a press release.
