Latinos for Tennessee is sponsoring a Faith Leadership Conference Tuesday, June 16, at World Outreach Church focused on informing church leaders about ways to become engaged in public-policy discussions affecting people of faith, the Daily News Journal reports.
“The idea is to invite clergy and folks in leadership in churches, but it’s not exclusive (to church leaders),” said Israel Ortega, board member for Latinos for Tennessee, a statewide nonprofit dedicated to promoting the ideas of faith, family and freedom to Latinos.
Keynote speaker is the Rev. Rafael Cruz, father of U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas. Other guest speakers include former U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, David Fowler with the Family Action Council of Tennessee and Lindsay Boyd of the Beacon Center of Tennessee.
