The 8th Annual Hungry for Hope conference for eating and body image issues is set for June 25-27, 2015 at the Factory in Franklin, Tenn. Hosted by FINDINGbalance, a global non-profit based in Franklin, TN, the event will feature a unique fusion of clinical teaching, storytelling, worship and the arts. Hungry for Hope is the premiere Christian conference tackling food and body image issues from a faith-based perspective. This year’s theme is “Love Well,” and boasts more than 24 speakers, experts and artists.
This year’s inspirational presenters and guests include authors Michelle Watson, PhD (The Abba Project), Teasi Cannon (My Big Bottom Blessing), Jennifer Dukes Lee (Love Idol), Megan Osborne, PhD (Shaped with Love) and Constance Rhodes (Life Inside the Thin Cage), as well as Christian recording artists JJ Heller and Jasmine Tate.
Clinical speakers include experts Christopher Charleton, MSW, LCSW, founder of InterAct Counseling, Dr. Margaret Nagib (Timberline Knolls), Darlene Graham, LMHC, (Selah House), Dr. Peggy Karlosky, host of a recovery program on Christian Women Affiliate’s Blog Radio, and Travis Stewart, LPC, the original founder of Hungry for Hope and owner/coach at Revision Recovery Services.
Hungry for Hope offers three clear distinctions in its approach to a healthy lifestyle, which sets this event apart from other conferences on the topic.
“We are inclusive of ALL types of eating issues, not just extreme eating disorders,” explains Constance Rhodes, Founder and CEO, FINDINGbalance. “Most people with food issues don’t qualify for a clinical eating disorder. At Hungry for Hope we normalize the topic and provide hope to anyone seeking greater balance with food, weight and wellness, regardless of what their food struggles look like.”
“We know that music, dance, drama and other creative arts can help move truth from our heads to our hearts,” adds Rhodes. “Since we’re based in Nashville, we have unique access to great talent and love sharing that with our attendees.”
“There is a lot of research about the importance of spirituality in recovery, but spirituality has such a wide range of meaning in the therapeutic world, says Rhodes. “At Hungry for Hope we present compelling evidence of Christ’s love for each person and invite attendees to consider how faith can play a powerful role in their pursuit of wellness.”
