TN: Multiple church fires investigated

The Jackson (Tenn.) Sun reports that The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Nashville Field Division, Tennessee State Fire Marshal’s Office, and the Lauderdale and Haywood County Sheriff’s Offices are offering a $5,000 reward for any information regarding fires that occurred Jan. 7 at the Trinity Methodist Church in Brownsville and the Cowboy Non-Denominational Church in Henning. Authorities are seeking information that may lead to the arrest and conviction of any person or persons involved in the fire.

A thorough scene investigation was conducted by ATF and the Tennessee State Fire Marshal’s Office, according to a news release. In addition to the fires, an attempted break-in occurred at the Springfield Baptist Church, 237 Springhill Road in Ripley.

In other news, WSMV reports officials are searching for answers after a massive church fire in La Vergne displaced several congregations.

The building, used by the Amazing Grace Fellowship Church, the Faith Life Church and Life of Victory Ministries, had been there for more than 20 years.
