Tennessee: Score goals, save lives by providing clean water

Attention, basketball players: Score a goal and save a life.

First Baptist Church of Normandy will sponsor its third annual three-on-three basketball contest March 27-28, the Shelbyville Times-Gazette reports.

The event, at Cascade High School, will benefit Turn on the Tap, a Samaritan’s Purse program that provides water filters to people in the developing world.

For only $100, Turn on the Tap can provide a filter to a household in the developing world, organizer Kim Heath said. Several families can share the filter.

But in order to provide the water filters, Turn on the Tap and First Baptist need help, namely, teams to sign up for the contest. The team fee is $30 for children and $45 for men. A three-point contest costs $5 to enter.

On Friday, divisions 4-6 grade will start playing at 6 p.m. On Saturday, games will start at 9 a.m. for 7-9 grade, 10-12 grade and men.

For information on how to register for Turn on the Tap, call Kim Heath at 931-205-1358.
