Karen Bracken, a Common Core opponent in East Tennessee, posted this to Facebook on Tuesday, Nov. 18:
Well Johnson City drew about 700 people tonight to hear Craig Honeycutt and Lauri Cardoza Moore talk in Islam and its ties to American education and Pearson. It was a blow out success. An elected state official also spoke and advised the crowd to be leery of the bill just put out by Rep. Forgety and Sen. Gresham (rewriting Common Core). Many on the hill see it as an effort to do a name change only. Glad to see I am not the only one that is wise to the games being played. Thanks to the presenters and Patty Kinkaed for organizing another successful event and thanks to all the people that came out in the cold to hear truth spoken with documentation to back it up.
I WILL SAY THIS: I respect Karen, but I think she is wrong about Gresham. Gresham is working with Sen. Mike Bell, R-Riceville, whom I know. Bell is a true conservative and is anti-Common Core.
