HarperCollins Christian Publishing Hires New SVP of Bible Group

HarperCollins Christian Publishing (HCCP) announced that John Kramp will join the organization as senior vice president of the Bible Group. Kramp will oversee the Bible publishing and study resources business for both Thomas Nelson and Zondervan.

John Kramp

For more than twenty years, Kramp has been developing and implementing strategic leadership at various capacities. For nineteen years he worked for LifeWay Christian Resources, most recently as vice president of the Church Resources Division. In his role, he led a 550-person team responsible for publishing, events, training, music and a direct-to-consumer channel. Kramp left Lifeway in 2011 to start a consulting firm, where he worked with large corporations, small businesses and non-profit organizations focusing on leadership development for emerging executives.

Kramp commented, “I tell people that I have lived two professional lifetimes—the first as a pastor and the second as a business leader. But through all that I have done, the Bible has remained at the core. It will be my privilege to serve with the HCCP team and to bring God’s Word to the world while also supporting all the other great things that are happening in the company.”

As SVP of the Bible Group, Kramp will be charged with leading and growing the company’s revenue through project development, author acquisition, effective marketing campaigns and leveraging the company’s digital presence. Within this role, he will also join the company’s executive leadership team and report directly to Mark Schoenwald, president and CEO of HCCP.

“I am excited that John will be joining HCCP, as he will bring a wealth of publishing experience and biblical knowledge to the team,” said Schoenwald. “We look forward to his leadership and help in developing, guiding and mentoring the next generation of HCCP leaders, and working to fulfill our mission to inspire the world with content that honors God.”

Kramp holds a MBA from Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University; a Master of Divinity from the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Baylor University. He has penned several published books and recorded music. Kramp will be based in Nashville, Tenn. at HCCP’s corporate office. His first day with the Company will be October 1st.
