The Lee University School of Religion honored Dr. Donald N. Bowdle as the first recipient of its distinguished alumni award. This award was presented during this year’s homecoming festivities to Bowdle by Dr. Terry Cross, dean of Lee’s School of Religion.

“Having attended Bible college here at Lee in the 1950s and then having returned in 1962 to teach full-time for the next 50 years, Dr. Bowdle seemed to us to be the most worthy candidate of our very first School of Religion Distinguished Alumnus of the Year award,” said Cross. “This award was not merely for his longevity in the various positions at Lee College, but also for his excellence in teaching the Bible and theology to thousands of students who are currently ministering throughout the world.”

Bowdle is considered a master of the Koine Greek text and has published over 250 articles and book reviews.
